Counselling & Psychotherapy

Whether you just want a few sessions to help overcome a niggling issue, or you would like to engage at a deeper level on whatever is concerning you, I can help!

Linda’s approach to Counselling

Linda Breathnach MIACP describes her approach as “integrative” with a foundation in Rogers’ “Client-Centred” approach.  Depending on what you are presenting with and how the sessions progress, she will use her wealth of experience and knowledge to adapt how she works with you.  She will listen to you with empathy but not passively.

Clients have given feedback that they like the way she will sometimes reflect back inconsistencies in their inner beliefs or respectively challenge assumptions by asking questions like “Why Not?” in her uniquely gentle yet assertive way. She is warm, friendly and non-judgemental and the hope is that you will feel at ease to open up very early on in your sessions.

Relationship Counselling & Psychotherapy

Having a third person who is trained to be objective and non-judgemental yet challenging when necessary can be really helpful for couples who feel like they are going around in circles.

Sometimes couples come to a point where they feel stuck, where there is a repetitive cycle of a small issue becoming bigger and rather than getting resolved, it escalates and communication breaks down.

With her warm, welcoming and non-judgemental approach, Linda can help you to identify the patterns in this cycle and break it down step-by-step as you work towards improving communication and connection and remembering why you are together in the first place.

Individual Counselling & Psychotherapy for Men

Men can sometimes get a raw deal in the media and society in general! There can be pressure to carry bravado or keep your defensive walls up when really you might be feeling vulnerable or overwhelmed underneath. If you would like to work through uncomfortable negative emotions towards becoming an empowered and confident man, we can help!

With four brothers, a husband and three sons, Linda has a special way of connecting with Men. Unlike the general perception in society and the media, Linda believes that men are equally emotional beings, they have just been culturally trained to express it differently. If you find yourself feeling defensive or angry on a more constant basis and want to work through it, Linda’s warm, non-judgemental yet sometimes challenging approach will help you feel empowered to work through those uncomfortable, sometimes overwhelming emotions.

She has built up a repertoire of evidence-based skills and techniques but most of all she works on facilitating a safe, confidential space for you to explore your inner most doubts and fears in order to feel less helpless and stuck with whatever is challenging you in life.
